Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Latest Show Makes Controversial Reference to Kate Middleton
Priyanka Chopra Jonas has raised eyebrows with her new series “Citadel” on Amazon Prime. The show, centered around espionage, took a bold stance by including a cheeky reference to Kate Middleton in its third episode. Known for her friendship with Meghan Markle, Chopra Jonas seemed to draw inspiration from the tension between Middleton and her dear friend.
The controversial joke occurs when Chopra Jonas’ character’s partner, portrayed by Richard Madden, attempts to negotiate a deal with a crime boss, played by Sen Monro, involving high-ranking military officials. In response to the audacious request, the mobster retorts, “The chief of armed forces? You might as well have asked me how to get between the legs of the Duchess of Cambridge.”
Chopra Jonas’ close bond with Markle is well-known. The Bollywood star and the Duchess of Sussex first crossed paths at the 2016 Elle Women in Television dinner and have maintained contact since then. Chopra Jonas even attended Markle’s extravagant royal wedding to Prince Harry.
In a 2018 essay praising Markle’s influence, Chopra Jonas wrote, “Meghan is an important influencer in a world that needs strong public figures to respect and look up to. People the world can be inspired by.” However, recent events have shifted the spotlight away from their friendship, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex found themselves in a paparazzi incident in New York. Although their spokesperson described it as a “near catastrophic” car accident following a chase, the taxi driver involved downplayed the danger, stating that he did not feel threatened and that New York is a safe city.
The inclusion of this controversial joke in “Citadel” has stirred debate, further fueling the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the royal family and their relationships.
